Biogas upgrading as a Service at Grolsch in Enschede, NL

Biogas valorization
The Royal Grolsch Brewery in Enschede produces biogas from its industrial wastewater treatment plant. Grolsch needed a sustainable solution to valorize their produced biogas: Bright Biogas Upgrading as a Service was the answer. A Bright upgrader is installed at the site of the brewery and upgrades the biogas produced by Grolsch. The biogas upgrading plant applies membrane technology.
Biomethane boost by the Grolsch Brewery
Annually, Bright generates and introduces more than 1 million Nm³ of biomethane into the network – utilizing biogas sourced from Grolsch brewery process. This sustainable alternative to fossil natural gas provides a renewable gas supply equivalent to the annual usage of roughly 700 Dutch households.

Regional collaboration
This partnership promotes a more sustainable beer brewing process and a greener regional gas network, contributing to a more eco-friendly industry. At the same time, it facilitates the creation of biomethane, substituting 1 million cubic meters of natural gas each year.
